In celebration of International Women’s Day March 8, 2022, we asked four women integral to our success to share their role at Medtronic LABS, and what excites them as we expand our impact in 2022.
DEBBIE MANGORTEY, Head of Field Operations, Ghana
WHAT IS YOUR ROLE?
I oversee the operations of, and serve as the face of Medtronic LABS in Ghana, with our stakeholders and implementing partners, among other things.

The opportunity to be part of an exciting solution that creates a lasting impact in the lives of individuals that live with hypertension and or diabetes in Ghana.

SANCHI SACHDEVA, Senior Audiologist, India
WHAT IS YOUR ROLE?
I work as lead Audiologist with Medtronic LABS. I take care of the clinical, commercial, product, and marketing support on Audiology in the program. LABS is an organization where you just can’t be in one specific role as a person. As an individual, you need to wear multiple hats. From my core background, I come from a Clinical Audiology background, However, my journey here in LABS has been like a roller coaster so, to be honest, I cannot put myself in one bucket. However, my core role is to ensure the smooth flow of business and provide clinical support. And from a process perspective, I manage commercial operations, marketing initiatives, and clinical functions in the program.
WHAT INSPIRES YOU?
What inspires me the most is touching and improving more lives than just a few when I work as a clinician. The healthcare process here allows me to touch more people and improve outcomes. This also gives me a rush and helps me learn the essence of business, which is something I have developed here as my passion.
WHAT ARE YOU EXCITED ABOUT FOR 2022?
I am looking forward to new developments and new learnings which help me to grow in my life.

NAOMI WASIKE, Tele Counselor Associate, Kenya
WHAT IS YOUR ROLE?
I call patients enrolled on the Empower Health app through Medtronic LABS for follow-up; educating them on the importance of a healthy diet, physical activity, stress management, going to clinics, and drug adherence.
My role includes sending health digest messages to unreachable contacts, calling red alerts, screening referral follow-ups, providing general information calls, and calling those who have missed blood pressure and glucose assessment, and who have not completed medical reviews.

GARIMA SAHAI, Head of Implementation Excellence
WHAT IS YOUR ROLE?
I manage all strategic partnerships for LABS and ensure the committed programs are executed with utmost implementation excellence with the goal to achieve partner commitments and patient impact. My role spans across LABS key innovations on NCDs and Ear Care. I also continue to explore new partnerships with strategic players to address ear care continuum in targeted countries.

A sense of responsibility for stakeholder management to establish a sustained and strong, multi-country health-system and grow patient impact.

To make the TWO largest country-wide, multi-stakeholder programs in the world on NCD and Ear Care – A Reality.
