I couldn’t do my day job properly because I was losing my hearing. After finding out at a Shruti screening that it was due to a perforated eardrum, I visited a doctor at the hospital who told me that I urgently needed surgery in both ears. A Shruti telecounselor explained my financial situation and the doctor was kind enough to give me a discount for my X-ray. I stillcouldn’t afford the surgery though so I waited for many months. I shared my problem with the telecounselor who spoke with the doctor again and got me a 17,000-rupee discount to make the surgery affordable for me. I am thankful now that I have a healthy eardrum and can keep my daily wage job.
